1. Scope and data controller
Professional Excellence Academy Africa (PEA Africa) controls personal information processed through PEA Africa unless a separate agreement identifies another controller. This Policy covers visitors, learners, job seekers, affiliates, employers, company representatives, freelancers, mentors, instructors, and administrators.
2. Information we collect
- Account data: name, email, phone, role, login security, verification status, and account preferences.
- Learning data: enrolments, attendance, assessment results, certificates, lab progress, command history, points, and achievements.
- Career data: profile, photo, résumé, education, experience, skills, portfolio, applications, salary preferences, references, interviews, messages, and verification evidence.
- Company and marketplace data: company profiles, representatives, job posts, proposals, contracts, reviews, disputes, and moderation records.
- Community data: posts, comments, reactions, follows, reports, and uploaded media.
- Payment data: transaction references, product, amount, status, and billing metadata. Payment card details are handled by the payment provider and are not intended to be stored by PEA Africa.
- Technical data: IP address, browser, device, session, security events, cookies, local-storage preferences, and approximate location derived from technical signals.
- Support and consent data: enquiries, feedback, policy versions accepted, marketing preferences, and communication history.
3. Why we use information
We process information to provide contracted services; authenticate and secure accounts; deliver learning and career features; process payments; facilitate applications and marketplace activity; personalize recommendations; communicate service notices; prevent fraud and abuse; comply with law; and improve platform performance. Where required, we rely on consent for optional marketing and certain communication channels. We also process information for legitimate interests that do not override your rights, including service security, moderation, analytics, and product improvement.
4. Recommendations and assisted decisions
Matching, ranking, trust signals, applicant scoring, and AI-assisted tools may analyze profile, skills, activity, preferences, and job criteria. These tools support—not replace—human judgment. We do not intend to make solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects without an appropriate legal basis, safeguards, and a way to request human review.
5. When information is shared
- With users you choose to interact with, such as employers, applicants, companies, mentors, or community members, according to your visibility settings.
- With service providers supporting hosting, email, messaging, analytics, security, document storage, AI-assisted features, and customer support.
- With payment providers such as Paystack to initialize, verify, and reconcile transactions.
- With authorities, advisers, or counterparties where reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights, investigate abuse, or complete a business reorganization.
We do not sell personal information. Public profiles, posts, company pages, and portfolios may be visible beyond signed-in users if you choose public visibility.
6. International processing
Some providers may process information outside Nigeria. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we use applicable contractual, organizational, and legal safeguards and assess the destination or transfer mechanism as required.
7. Retention
We keep information only as long as needed for the purpose collected, account operation, dispute resolution, security, tax and accounting, legal obligations, and enforcement. Retention differs by record type. For example, active account and learning records may remain while the account exists; transaction and compliance records may be retained for legally required periods; failed verification evidence should be removed or restricted when no longer needed.
8. Security
We use access controls, authentication safeguards, encryption in transit, logging, backups, moderation, and provider controls designed to protect information. No system is completely secure. Use a unique password, enable two-factor authentication where available, and report suspected compromise immediately.
9. Your privacy rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, withdrawal of consent, information about processing, or human review of an automated decision. You may also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission. We may verify identity before fulfilling a request and may retain information where the law permits or requires it.
Send requests to privacy@peaafrica.com. You can also update profile, visibility, communication, and account settings directly where available.
10. Children
PEA Africa is not directed to children who cannot lawfully consent to this processing. Where a young person is eligible to use a service only with guardian authorization, we may request evidence of that authorization and apply additional safeguards.
11. Policy changes
We will post updates with a revised effective date and provide additional notice for material changes. Previous consent records may be retained to demonstrate the policy version accepted.
